Family learning project
Scrap offers a family learning project which aims to give families from socially disadvantaged areas practical and creative activities to help them play with their children in a positive, fun way. Activities we provide include denbuilding, creative arts, costume making, music making, and drama. All our activities will empower adults and give them the confidence to play and learn with their children, thus helping both adults and children to reach their full learning potential.
We target families who find it hard to bond with their children and lack the skills and knowledge to play creativly. These activities build upon the parents skills enabling them to interact with their children naturally.
All our projects work with waste materials collected from businesses. These materials range from mixed textiles and ribbons to plastics and cardboard. All our family activities are easy to do and achievable. The materials we use are very low cost and can be either found in the home or bought very cheaply. This enables families to carry on activities at home developing the child’s learning abilities.
The family learning project covers the Leeds and surrounding areas targeting many community organisations. If you are interested in or want to find out more about The Family Learning Project you can either call us or download the attatched form and send it to us.
